U-M highlights road safety, CAV testing at 2023 ITS World Congress

The ITS World Congress, presented by ITS America, is an annual, global conference that allows the smart mobility community to come together to explore the deployment of intelligent transportation technologies. This is made possible by exhibitor booths and panel discussions on a variety of topics.

This year, over 6,000 industry professionals attended the 5-day event in Los Angeles. Mcity partnered with the Center for Connected and Automated Transportation (CCAT), and the U-M Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) to represent the University of Michigan in an exhibitor booth highlighting the innovative research being conducted by the individual organizations, including Mcity 2.0, the CCAT SAFE TEST, and UMTRI’s Smart Intersections Project.

Mcity and CCAT Director Dr. Henry Liu, participated in a panel discussion titled, “Methods for Improving Road Safety: Smart Infrastructure, Crowdsourced Data, and Safety Metrics,” while Mcity Managing Director joined a panel titled, “Live, Virtual, and Constructive Evaluation of Connected and Automated Vehicles”.

The combined attendance during the panel sessions reached over 150 people. The exhibit booth was visited by an estimated 200 people.
