How to schedule time on the test track

If you have previously reserved time in the Mcity Test Facility, or if you are a University of Michigan faculty member, staff or student, log in now.

If you are new to Mcity, follow these steps to create an account and access Mcity’s online Welcome Center for test track scheduling, documentation, apps and more. If you aren’t already a member, you may wish to consider membership for preferred access and reduced rates!

1. Your Affiliation

Mcity Test Facility rates and access to the Mcity online portal are based on your membership level and affiliation:

  • Members
  • Non-Members
  • Internal University of Michigan Users

Members
If your company/institution is already a Lead, Accelerate or Startup member, you may create an account and log in. Your email domain will be recognized and you will have full access to the online visitor portal and track scheduling. See current list of Mcity members and partners here.

Startups may also be eligible for funding through the state of Michigan. For more information, visit the Michigan Mobility Funding Platform.

External Academic Institutions: If you are with another academic institution, create an account and log in. Your .edu address will be recognized as an academic institution, but you will not be able to schedule time on the test track until your institution has executed the Mcity Track Agreement and submitted a certificate of liability.

Mcity Partners, and Michigan and U.S. Government Agencies: You may create an account and schedule time on the test track once your company/institution has executed the Mcity Track Agreement and submitted a certificate of liability.

Non-Members

Internal University of Michigan Users
University of Michigan faculty, students, and staff have pre-approved access to the Mcity Test Facility, log in now.

2. Mcity Track Agreement

If you or your company/institution is new to Mcity, and before you schedule time on the test track, you will need to download and execute the standard Mcity Track Agreement and submit a certificate of liability insurance, as outlined in the agreement Attachment B on page 15. After your documents have been submitted and approved you may schedule time on the test track through the Mcity Welcome Center online portal. University of Michigan users are not required to complete a track agreement or submit a certificate of liability insurance.

3. Rate Card

Mcity Test Facility use rates, vehicle rental, and tour fees are based on membership level and affiliation. Member rates apply to Lead, Accelerate and Startup members of Mcity, as well as Mcity Partners, Michigan and U.S. government agencies, and external academic institutions.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • All reservations may be cancelled at no charge within two business days after they are made, regardless of the length or number of days reserved.
  • If you cancel after the cutoff windows below, Mcity will attempt to rebook your cancelled time. You will be charged for any portion of this time Mcity is not able to rebook.
    • Cancellations for reservations for one to three consecutive full/partial days of testing must be made at least three business days in advance to avoid incurring charges.
    • Cancellations for reservations for four or more consecutive full/partial days of testing or a special event* of any length must be made at least three weeks in advance to avoid incurring charges.

* A special event is defined as any use of the facility that does not involve research or testing of a product or service and requires coordination of Mcity event staff, or other U-M staff.

All visitors to the online Mcity Welcome Center are required to register and set up an account.
